Ten Adult Leaders from Troop 343 attended the Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course held at Camp Jackson on 4-6 November 2016. Wilderness First Aid is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill person in a remote environment where rapid or immediate transport is not available. Adult Leaders were trained on patient assessment in the field, common wilderness injuries and illnesses, and search and rescue.
The WFA certification is typically good for 2 years. Having two WFA-certified persons per crew is a mandate for all BSA High Adventure bases (e.g. Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base, Bechtel Summit).
